Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle
Across from the Château de Beynac, on the opposite bank of the Dordogne River, stands the Château de Castelnaud, a 13th-century fortress. This castle in the Dordogne is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the art of warfare during the Middle Ages. Listed as a historic monument, this exceptional site is home to the War Museum. There, you’ll discover a collection of period weapons and armor.
The main attraction is still the courtyard, where life-size replicas of siege engines, such as the trebuchet, are on display. The view of the Dordogne Valley from the ramparts is remarkable.

The Château de Fénelon, in Saint-Mondane, is a medieval fortress that has stood the test of time, surrounded by its walls. It overlooks the Dordogne Valley and is located just 18 km from Sarlat, in the heart of the Périgord Noir. This castle in the Dordogne was the residence of the Fénelon family. Its characteristic defensive architecture is beautifully preserved, clearly reflecting the medieval era.
