Rock Climbing in the Dordogne
Right across from our campground in the Dordogne, we’re lucky to have magnificent limestone cliffs that have been developed for rock climbing. It’s the perfect place for some thrilling mountain adventures!
The climbing wall is a 15-minute walk from the campground, next to a fishing pond in the Dordogne. It’s a small, very pleasant, and sunny spot with a beautiful, well-worn limestone boulder. You can follow the Via Ferrata for a safe climbing session with thrills worthy of a high-mountain climbing route.
The compact gray limestone allows for precise climbing on varied holds, and the rock’s texture provides excellent grip. With most routes rated at grades 5 and 6, this site will delight climbers looking to hone their technique.
This crag features 53 lovely routes ranging from about 15 meters to 20 meters in length. The equipment is modern, and the beginner’s area (20 routes) is ideal for beginners (Levels 3–5). At this climbing site, you can be accompanied by instructors for a half-day session to climb in complete safety. For mountaineering enthusiasts, some of the more challenging routes are perfect for honing your climbing technique on this type of rock face.
At the top of the cliff, you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the Vézère Valley and a bird’s-eye view of the Château de Campagne.

Hiking in the Dordogne
The Dordogne is the ideal region for mountain biking: mild weather, authentic charm, a rich cultural heritage, varied terrain, and numerous forests.

The FFC Lascaux Vallée Dordogne mountain biking area was recently established, offering 542 km of trails across 24 routes.
675 km of marked trails have been developed in the Vézère Valley, much to the delight of hikers. This valley is steeped in history, and the region will reveal all the charms of its landscapes as you hike through the Dordogne. Take the time to marvel at the sights: troglodyte dwellings nestled in the cliffs and rock shelters are just some of the picturesque spots to discover along the trails.
Across from the campground, the Campagne Forest covers 317 hectares and is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. You’ll see that its designation as a “Sensitive Natural Area” and all the conservation efforts made on its behalf are more than justified by its beauty.
A nature trail featuring two loops (3 and 6 km) has been developed to guide hikers along the route. Thanks to informational signs about the forest’s wildlife, you’ll have a good chance of spotting rare and protected species such as the peregrine falcon, the short-toed eagle, wild orchids, and more.
Along the trail, you’ll discover caves and medieval dwellings.

Horse-riding
Exploring the Dordogne on horseback is a fun and unique way to share special moments in the great outdoors and take in the magnificent landscapes of our beautiful valley and its caves.
The Arc à ciel center in Campagne offers year-round pony rides, where parents accompany their children along a marked trail, as well as horseback rides for riders of all skill levels.
Water sports
Canoeing
This is the must-do activity during your vacation in the Dordogne. You can choose between exploring the Vézère River and the Dordogne River. The Vézère is a narrower, wilder river offering spectacular scenery: majestic cliffs, rock shelters, caves, cave-dwelling villages… It’s a journey back in time. For the more adventurous, canyoning is also possible in the surrounding canyons.
The Dordogne River is a much wider river that winds its way past the region’s most beautiful castles: Castelnaud, Beynac, Montfort…
During peak season, we organize a canoeing trip that departs from the campground with our partner, Canoëric, located in Le Bugue, 4 km from the campground.
Enjoy a rafting trip down the Vézère River with our partner, Canoé 24, located 10 minutes from the campground.
Or a canoe trip down the Dordogne with Canoe Détente, located 15 minutes from the campground.
